Where to Park
Plenty of convenient parking is available for guests and members on all sides of the church, but the best parking for new visitors is located off Vanosdale Road. Look for the signs right up front and come on in!
UMC Core Beliefs
Bruce Galyon, Senior Pastor
Bruce was appointed as senior pastor in June of 2016. Born and raised in Sweetwater, Tn., graduate of Emory and Henry College, and Asbury Theological Seminary. He has two adult children, Jessica and Andrew, and two grandchildren, Keelan and Liam. Bruce enjoys hiking, bicycling, golf, and simply being outdoors.
Jacob Reedy, Associate Pastor
Jacob has been associate pastor since June of 2015. A Kingsport, Tn. Native, graduate of East Tennessee State University and Methodist Theological School in Ohio. He enjoys board games, woodworking, and reading. “I am incredibly blessed to be a part of the ministries that happen through our church here on the corner!”
Ann Cover, Director of Children and Family
Ann has been the Director of Children and Family Ministries since 1997. She has a Masters in Child and Family Studies from the University of Tennessee. Ann and her husband, Robert, have one daughter, Laura. “I love children and their inquisitive minds and desire to learn. I believe one of the best ways to impact a child’s life is to help him grow in Christ through his involvement with church and equipping those involved in his life.”
Ronda Mostella, Children’s Choir and Hand Bell Director
Ronda is a Knoxville native and graduate from Gibbs High School. Her experience and strengths are in music education, voice, and piano. For the last 7 years, Ronda has taught music at Pond Gap school. She is a mother of three, and enjoys hiking, gardening, and reading when she is not focused on music.
Lou Ann Sliger, Director of Children’s Enrichment Program
Lou Ann has been the director of our children’s enrichment program for 20 years. She also serves as a substitute teacher at West Hills Elementary. A graduate of the University of Tennessee (BS in Elementary and Special Education). Lou Ann and her husband, Fred, have two adult children, John and Rachel. She loves to travel, cooking, working in the yard, and Tennessee football. “I love working with children. Every child is a gift of God wrapped in different packages which we are to ‘unwrap’ and enrich their lives.”
Steven Mees, Director of Youth Ministries
Steven has been working with youth in the Church for over 11 years now. He has a B.S. degree in Preaching and Youth Ministry from Johnson University. Steven enjoys playing games of all kinds, reading, being outdoors, and quiet times with friends. Steven became director of youth ministries in May of 2018. He states: “I am passionate about working with youth to help them become the leaders for Christ they were always meant to be.”
Sonny Melton, Director of Traditional Music and Worship
Sonny has been the Director of traditional music and worship since 2008. He is a graduate of Carson Newman College (BS in Music Education), and the University of Tennessee (Masters of Science in Music and Doctorate of Music Educatiion and Choral Conducting). He was the choral director for Carter High School for 31 years. He and his wife, Carol, have two adult children, Morris and Marissa. Sonny enjoys gardening, travel, writing and arranging music.
Precia Beebe, Assistant Choir Director
Precia is a graduate of Graceland University in Iowa with a degree in Music Education. In Michigan, she taught elementary music and fine art, as well as high school choir, for just over 10 years. Currently, she and her husband, Aaron, and two daughters, Raelynn (9) and Everleigh (1), along with their two cats, reside in Oak Ridge, TN. When Precia is not singing in the Sunday choirs or directing Revelation Singers and the Brass Singers handbell choir, she substitute teaches in the Oak Ridge school district. In her free time, Precia enjoys reading, playing games, teaching violin and piano lessons, leading activities with her Girl Scout troop, and spending quality time with her family.
Justin Haynes, Contemporary Worship Director
Justin has been the contemporary worship director since 2004. In addition, he is employed by Pilot/Flying J as a recruiter. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (BS of Music Education), University of Tennessee (Masters of Jazz Studies and Human Resources). Justin enjoys astronomy and supporting University of South Carolina athletics.
Sabra Buchheit, pianist/organist
Sabra has been our pianist/organist since 2008 and was assistant organist/pianist since 1995. She is a graduate of Belmont University (BM in Music) and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (Master of Music). Sabra and husband, John, have two children, Quincy and Rachel. She enjoys gardening, hiking, and travel.
Charlotte Giles, Church Administrator
Charlotte has worked at Middelbrook Pike UMC since 2007. Charlotte and husband, David, have two girls, Taylor and Bailey. She enjoys walking, hiking, gardening and spending time with family.
Debbie Uglow, Administrative Assistant
Debbie has worked at Middlebrook Pike UMC since 2004. She started out as receptionist but in 2016 became the administrative assistant. Debbie and husband, Ron, have two adult children, Andy and Ashley, and four grandchildren. She enjoys DIY projects, crafts, shopping, and spending time with family.
Kenny Brown, Facilities Manager
Kenny is a Knoxville native and joined the Middlebrook Pike team in May 2018. He and his wife Donna have one son. Kenny enjoys genealogy, arrowhead hunting, learning history, and being outdoors.
